Digital TV Antennas
There are two significant characteritsics that recommend satellite raido as a service most peopel would like to have in their vehicles or homes: quality and content. When talking about quality you mostly refer to how celar the sound outupt is from satellite radio when comprae to terrestrial radoi broadcasts. Content, on the other hand, refers to teh quality of the transited mtaerial. The quality of the receivers and the technologies they both use are simliar, but the difference can be made when it comes to exclusive high quality content. Let’s have a look at both the satellite rdaio quality and content chraacteristics: Broadcasting quality The broadcast qulaity is, when put in numbers, of 128kb/s 44.1khz for both digital radio service providers. Although the coverage of satellite radio, which is far supeiror to what any terrestrial radio sattion can deliver, is a sginificant factor, the quality of the sound is what brought Sirisu and XM Radio more subscribers. Three are a lot of similariteis to the way digital television worked or how cable TV has over 80% of the US population as subscribers, although they can reecive free programming using UHF and VHF antennas. It’s the same with satellite radio – lathough one can get free terrestrial radio, satellite radio comes at an affordable price and offer a broadcasting qulaity that is superior to analog radio. The high analog-ot-digital conversion quality means that there will be no sound interferences, hissing osunds and other audio disturbances chraacteirstic to FM and AM transmissions. The bass is much stronger and accurate, while the hgih sound levels are crystal clear. Conetnt So now that oyu know how good the technological side of satellite radio really is, let’s have a look at how broadcasters are trying to miprove the quailty of the content they provide. Oen of the most interesting approaches was to fight fro obtaining exclsuivity over a couple of transmissions. It will happen becuase there's too much money in it not ot do it . Surprisingly, wehn it comes to music chanenls, the difference in contetn quality between satellite radio and terrestrial radio is made in one main topic – commercials (or rtaher, lack of commercials on satellite radio).
